The Government Proposal Writer is responsible for developing and writing proposals that effectively communicate Judge's objectives, solutions, and benefits to government institutions. This role requires excellent communication, research, initiative, independence, and project management skills. This role reports directly to the VP, Proposals with a dotted line report to the VP, Federal and State Contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Researching Requests for Proposals (RFPs): Assess the suitability of newly issued government RFPs to our business model. Understand the requirements, objectives, and timelines of RFPs.
- Proposal Development: Write, revise, and edit drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and credentials from inception to completion. Independently draft proposal responses with minimal supervision.
- Collaboration: Work with subject matter experts to gather information about services and strategies to create a compelling narrative. Offer government expertise/knowledge to internal stakeholders.
- Review and Revision: Proofread proposal content for style, grammar, clarity, and cohesion. Ensure compliance with RFP requirements and revise drafts as necessary.
- Project Management: Coordinate proposal efforts with executives, sales, and various back-office departments such as legal, finance, HR, insurance, and consultant onboarding. Manage proposal schedules and deadlines, and communicate reminders to stakeholders.
- Development and Additional Responsibilities: Stay current with industry trends and best practices through regular research and professional development. Perform any other duties and tasks as assigned by management.
Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or a related field.
- 5+ years of proven experience as a Government Proposal Writer or similar role.
- Experience writing proposals for the Federal government is required.
- Experience writing proposals for State government is desired.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and proposal management software.
- Experience with the Department of Defense and/or Veterans Affairs is desired.
