Job Description
- Stay updated on TTB laws and regulations related to government reporting for specific winery operations.
- Reconcile and verify data integrity to ensure compliance with government regulations for all federal and state excise tax reports and operations reports.
- Accurately file monthly and semi-monthly Operations Reports and Tax Returns (federal and state) as required by the appropriate government agency.
- Support Regulatory Affairs during external and internal audit engagements by preparing for audits, coordinating responses to documentation requests, and drafting responses to audit reports as necessary.
- Assist in resolving inventory and other regulatory issues.
- Timely file notices or claims as required by regulatory agencies.
- Alert management about non-compliance risks linked to operational inconsistencies or process changes.
- Conduct routine self-audits within winery operations to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain files for Regulatory Compliance Licenses and Permits, ensuring current copies are posted as needed.
- Train and develop new employees.
- Identify and eliminate inefficiencies in processes (personal or departmental).
- Contribute to broader winery initiatives, including developing systems and procedures to ensure the data integrity of all record-keeping systems, both automated and manual.
- Help identify and implement best practices.
Skills Required
- 5 to 8 years of experience in alcohol-related regulatory guidelines (a combination of education and alcoholic beverage experience is acceptable).
- Flexible to work shifts and schedules, including overtime.
- Proficient in writing reports, presenting information, and addressing questions from managers, suppliers, and internal customers.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel.
- Proficient in MS Word, MS Access, and MS PowerPoint.
- Experience with systems like Vintrace and SAP.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, time, and resource management abilities.
- Capable of handling multiple tasks and priorities.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Experience solving practical problems with limited standardization.
- Conflict resolution management skills.
- Accounting experience in the alcoholic beverage industry.
Education/Training/Certifications
- Bachelor's degree (preferably with an emphasis in accounting) or a combination of education and experience equivalent to work experience.
