Job Title: Government Research AnalystDuration: 3 months contract, extendable up to 36 monthsLocation: New York, NYThis is a hybrid role in New York City, NY; candidates must be local and able to come into the NYC headquarters 2.5 days per week Note: The client has the right-to-hire you as a permanent employee at any time during or after the end of the contract.You may participate in the company group medical insurance plan Job Description:Government Research Analyst Summary:Client's Global Business Services division is responsible for driving operational excellence with the execution of a variety of services, processes, functions, programs, and solutions that support client in executing its mission; delivering Breakthroughs that Change Patients Lives. Our scope includes Procurement, Payroll, Meeting Planning, Contractor Management, Accounts Payable, and many other functions that are critical in enabling the success of our broader organization. One of the programs we manage for the corporation is Clients Supplier Diversity Program; an effort that is focused on driving economic equity throughout the U.S. and world by ensuring that Clients $20B of external expenditures are reaching businesses owned by ethnic minorities, women, LGBTQ+ community members, veterans, and other diverse groups.Our Supplier Diversity Team works to drive incremental spend with diverse suppliers by scouting the market for excellent diverse suppliers who can support Pharmaceutical, educating internal colleagues about diverse suppliers associated with their areas, tracking year on year diverse spend performance improvements, et. al. As part of our efforts to advance both the value of supplier diversity for organizations and its impact on underserved populations and communities, we desire to research the potential for corporations to receive local, state, and federal tax breaks for driving incremental spend with diverse suppliers. With this in mind, the Economic Development SGE will perform the below-referenced responsibilities. Responsibilities:Meet with our Supplier Diversity team leads to understand both industry best practices and the extent to which they are employed at PharmaceuticalConduct research around the business case for supplier diversity, the challenges many companies face in supporting it, and the positive economic impact corporate supplier diversity spend can have on both underserved populations and communitiesMeet with our Tax and Corporate Affairs department to understand the necessary factors to consider, governmental policies to evaluate, and law frameworks that would be necessary to design a new law that effectively supports economic development for government, socioeconomic advancement for the underserved, and financial improvement for corporationsDocument the results of this work in a 5 page memo and 10 slide presentation to the GBS ES BOS&S Leadership Team in early August 2024Develop the necessary relationships across the GBS ES - BOS&S organization to ensure the work product is sustained past this 2024 summer internship. Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a research-related discipline (e.g. sociology, anthropology, etc.).Currently enrolled in a master's degree programGPA of 3.0+ or 2.7+ if at a top 10 university or collegeStrong organizational, research, and writing skillsExcellent with meeting or exceeding deadlinesHighly effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skillsA team player who is willing to go above and beyond to meet goals and objectivesProficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.) Location:This is a hybrid role in New York City, NY; candidates must be local and able to come into the NYC headquarters 2.5 days per week
