Job Title: Graduate Assistant, Advancement

Department: University Advancement

Reports To: Vice President & Chief Advancement Officer

Job Type: This is a part time, exempt position.

General Description:

University Advancement at William Woods University is charged with creating opportunities for students and programs through the identification and procurement of extramural funding. Additionally, University Advancement exists within the innovative space of higher education that allows for the development and implementation of initiatives that generate revenue for the university and its stakeholders. This work is critical to the sustainability and advancement of the university.

Additionally, opportunities to contribute to and lead innovative research projects and service that advances the broad fields of leadership, leadership learning, and leadership development within the context of leadership and character are available.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.Perform daily operations to assist with the administration of the University Advancement Office

2. Process gifts and practice stewardship with university donors

3. Plan, manage, facilitate, and evaluate programmatic events that contribute to the university's outreach to current students, alumni, and the local community

4. Maintain effective internal/external communication for the University Advancement Office

5. Disseminate and manage data for dissemination to the Advancement team

6. Assist in the development and management of community and corporate partnerships

7. Serve as the primary point of intake for the University Advancement Office

Position Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualified candidates will be enrolled in, registered for coursework, and maintain satisfactory academic

standing in a full-time graduate degree program at William Woods University. The successful candidate will

demonstrate:

1) knowledge of and capacity aligning with the university mission,

2) creativity and problem-solving capacity,

3) desire and/or experience for developing and coordinating stakeholder programs and activities, and

4) evidence of well-developed, collegial, and collaborative organizational skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating:

1) desire to work with diverse stakeholder populations,

2)excellent communication and interpersonal skills,

3) evidence of well-developed collegiality and a commitment to service,

4) an interest in and commitment to interacting with businesses, government organizations, non-profit/community, and higher education institutions locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally,

5) an interest in and commitment to helping build leadership initiatives on campus and in the community, and

6) awareness of and sensitivity to educational goals tied to equitable and just practices that advance the success of diverse student populations

Standard office work.

Work Schedule:

This is an exempt, 12-month half-time (20 hours/week) position that occasionally

requires travel and weekend/evening event coordination.
