Job Description:
Wittenberg University is searching for a Graduate Assistant (GA) for Athletic Communication & Marketing beginning in the 2025 spring semester (January 2025). The university offers a Master's in Sport Administration program that focuses on all aspects of athletic administration. The Graduate Assistantship and enrollment in the master's program will afford the successful candidate the ability to directly apply knowledge in the classroom to the duties they perform within the athletic department. This is a non-exempt, hourly position working no more than 20 hours per week.
The GA for Athletic Communication & Marketing assists the Associate Director of Athletics for Communications and Associate Director for Athletic Communications in all areas of Athletic Communications.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
* Assist with game management duties related to athletics communications, including but not limited to statistical data entry, social media promotion, photography, and live video production.
* Assist with projects related to graphic design, video production, and social media marketing efforts.
* Assist in capturing and editing highlights from athletics events and finding new and innovative ways to promote that content on social media platforms.
* Foster relationships with key Offices on campus to improve overall student life experience on campus, including cross-promotional opportunities at various campus events.
* Assist with the supervision of a team of student-workers.
* Perform other relevant duties as assigned such as special projects, programs, developmental activities, etc.
Requirements:
For this position, we require that candidates have a bachelor's degree in sports management, marketing or related field; some related experience; and acceptance into Wittenberg's Master's in Sport Administration program. Candidates must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, and be able to effectively and appropriately interact with student-athletes, parents, alumni, faculty, peers, community members, and administrators. Knowledge in the following areas is also required:
* Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.)
* Experience with various social media platforms
* Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills (verbal and written) in order to work with a diverse campus community
A valid driver's license is required; must meet required insurance qualifications found in Wittenberg Motor Pool policies and procedures. If license is from out of state, successful candidate will need to obtain a valid Ohio driver's license within 30 days of hire date. Travel is required as well as some evening, night, and weekend work.
Being authorized to work in the United States is a pre-condition of employment.
