A job offer is contingent on acceptance into an Ohio University graduate program. This position includes a 1-year contract with possibility of a second year dependent on your graduate program restrictions and needs of the department.

Well-Being & Recreation will provide a stipend, however, a tuition waiver is dependent on approval from your academic department and is not guaranteed.

Graduate Assistants will be expected to report for on-boarding, training and semester preparation in early August. The final date is to be determined.

The Graduate Assistant, Facility Operations is an integral part of the Well-being &Recreation Team. This position works with student facility staff and maintenance staff to ensure efficient and proper use of Bird Ice Arena. In addition, the Graduate Assistant, Facility Operations is expected to promote and facilitate effective communication and collaboration across all efforts of the department, university and community partners.

Job Responsibilities:

* Develop leadership skills among core team members and assist in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures within Campus Recreation facilities.

* Assist in overseeing the overall operations of Campus Recreation facilities including, but not limited to; personnel, maintenance, risk management, rentals and reservations and special events specific to Bird Arena.

* Mentor and assist in the development of student staff.

* Oversee communication, hiring, evaluations, trainings, and certifications for all student staff.

* Assist with facility and student scheduling.

* Serve as a first responder during facility emergencies.

* Serve as a vital contributor to the Campus Recreation staff, attending all department and division meetings and trainings.

Actively contributes as a student staff member of the Department and Division that upholds the framework of equity and social justice. Performs job duties in a manner that appreciates diversity and fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members of the OHIO community. Actively participates in professional development opportunities when available and maintains current knowledge of emerging trends, best practices and related issues regarding all relevant areas of responsibility.

Actively contribute as a staff member of the Department of Well-Being & Recreation and Division of Student Affairs. Promote and facilitate effective communication and collaborative efforts across all department, divisional, university and community partners. Maintain current knowledge of the University, its environment, purpose and affairs to be prepared to respond to appropriate issues. Actively participate in professional development opportunities when available and maintain current knowledge of current trends and best practices within area of responsibility. Advocate and promote diversity and inclusion through roles and responsibilities in support of department, division, and university initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

* Must be a full time Graduate Student at Ohio University

* Must be CPR/AED and First Aid Certified

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with facility operations and staff supervision

* Knowledge and experience with computer programs; Fusion, WhenToWork, Microsoft Office

* CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor Certification

Department VP For Student Affairs Pay Rate

$13,500 annual stipend for 20 hours of work per week or 300 hours per semester; $14.52/hour during Academic Breaks
