MCC's vision is to produce global citizens whose leadership and scholarship development inspire them to demonstrate the value of education and diversity. The office is committed to attracting and retaining highly talented and capable students of diverse backgrounds to maximize their leadership potential through educational and service opportunities. Programmatic activities instill in students the importance of scholarly pursuits and the value of education. We serve as a resource to the Ohio University community on issues of access, retention and student success as well as promote the educational benefits of diversity and the appreciation for difference.Minimum Qualifications Responsibilities for all MCC Graduate Assistants but not limited to the following:
- Work with our LINKS Program. LINKS helps first-year students navigate the college experience by focusing on issues of access, retention, and student success while promoting the educational benefits of diversity and inclusion at Ohio University.
- Provide one on one support to student scholars. The MCC Team specializes in working one on one with students to help them craft a pathway for academic and personal success. This entails getting to know students on an individual level and being able to make appropriate referrals to university resources.
- Maintain advising relationships with students on probation to assist them in regaining scholarship status
- Maintain accurate and timely meeting records on individual students
- Support the recruitment and selection of MCC scholarship prospects
- Assist in planning and implementing programs working collaboratively with the staff, student staff, academic units, student organizations, and university departments
- Establish and maintain weekly and/or bi-weekly supervisory meetings with staff
- Participate in professional development opportunities to learn more to be an effective staff member
- Represent self in a professional manner with faculty, staff, students, and parents including confidentiality
- Represent the MCC Office at on and off-campus programs
Preferred Qualifications The Division of Diversity and Inclusion has a partnership with the Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education. First consideration goes to those students applying, or admitted to, the College Student Personnel graduate program. We also encourage applicants from related fields in the College of Education.Department Diversity & Inclusion - Multicultural Center Pay Rate $13,000 stipend total for fall and spring semester (plus tuition waiver for partnering programs). This graduate assistantship position offers a paid stipend. However, it does not guarantee a tuition waiver. Tuition waivers are made available to students enrolled in specific academic programs and colleges.
