Job Title Graduate Assistantship - Computer Science Department Computer Science Essential Functions
Dr. Kwangsung Oh is seeking a motivated Master's student for a Graduate Assistantship during the 2025 Spring semester to contribute to a National Science Foundation (NSF) supported research project. This high quality project focuses on developing Geo-distributed Data Analytics (GDA) systems designed to efficiently transfer large volumes of data over wide-area networks in multi-cloud environments. The primary objective of this research is to enable GDA applications to achieve their cost-performance optimization effectively.
The primary responsibility for this position will be to design and build a geo-distributed data analytic system.
As a Graduate Assistant, the recipient will have the opportunity to publish research findings in top-tier venues such as Sigmetrics, HPDC, CoNext, SoCC, Middleware, EuroSys, and ATC.
Graduate assistantships are based on academic and/ or professional excellence. Recipients receive tuition remission, a monthly salary, and subsidized health insurance to work approximately 20 hours per week on assigned professional responsibilities.
Work Schedule Varies Additional Duties Required Qualifications
* Current Full-time enrollment in a relevant Master's program at UNO.
* Programming skills in Java or C++.
* Able to work independently and collaboratively.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Must complete a background check.
* Carry a minimum of six graduate hours during the Spring 2025 semester.
Preferred Qualifications
* Machine learning-related experience is preferred.
