Graduate Level Professor sought to prepare for and teach OS3211 Systems Optimization course in the Academic Year 2025 Quarter 2 from 6 January - 28 March 2025 one day per week from 0800 - 1100 Pacific time. The term includes 3 weeks of lead time to consult with the Operations Research Department regarding the syllabus and prepare for the first week's lectures. The course is to be delivered remotely using Teams or Zoom. The professor will also have use of the resources at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.The professor must have:
- Master's degree or higher in Operations Research, Mathematics, or aclosely related academic field, with a strong emphasis on Optimization Modeling.
- 2 years, at minimum, of DoD experience in an applied Mathematics positionthat includes Linear Programming.
- 2 years, at minimum, of experience teaching technical courses in a graduate,resident environment.
- 2 years, at minimum, of experience teaching Optimization Modeling using Excel Solver at the graduate degree level.
- Hands-on experience in developing Linear Programming Models as demonstrated by (1) a tour of duty in a DoD analysis organization; (2) publication in research sponsored or academically sanctioned technical report; or (3) in a refereed journal such as Phalanx or Operations Research/Management Science
The term of this assignment is December 16, 2024 through March 28, 2025. The period December 16 - January 6 is for preparation for course delivery. The first class meets Tuesday January 7, 2025. This preparation period includes coordinating with the Department. A requirement for regular office hours is also expected.To be considered, please submit your resume with the application.
