JOB SUMMARY:
The Office of Student Engagement (OSE) is seeking top-level, organized, team-oriented, and innovative graduate students to assist with the preparation and implementation of large, signature campus events and programs. Graduate interns will gain valuable experience in event management, club/organization advisement, budget management, assessment, marketing, and leadership development.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Office of Student Engagement (OSE) is seeking top-level, organized, team-oriented, and innovative graduate students to assist with the preparation, implementation, and staffing of large, signature campus events and programs. Graduate interns will gain valuable experience in event management, club/organization advisement, budget management, assessment, marketing, and leadership development.
Graduate Interns will have the opportunity to support a variety of different functional areas with the following duties and responsibilities:
* New Student Orientation - support operations of new student orientation; respond to orientation correspondence; serve as a liaison to other organizations/offices regarding orientation; coordinate and manage informational sessions; assist with marketing/communications
* Student Activities - support/co-advise programmatic efforts of the Student Activities Board (SAB); plan, manage and execute events; staff late-night and weekend events; chaperone off-campus travel excursions; assist in the recruitment and selection of members; assist with the planning of trainings and retreats; research/benchmark best practices in student activities
* Fraternity & Sorority Life - support programmatic efforts of Greek organizations; assist with the training and development (with specific support to New Member Education), staff late-night and weekend events; lead assessment projects; assist with the planning of trainings, retreats, and professional development; benchmark best practices in Fraternity and Sorority Life
* Club/Organizations - support the programmatic efforts of 100+ student clubs/organizations; host trainings for clubs/organizations on policies/guidelines and best practices; assist with Engage platform operations; benchmark best practices for clubs/organizations
General office responsibilities include:
* Responding to e-mail inquiries for OSE e-mail account
* Maintaining daily operations of Engage platform
* Staff events to support student programming (various between weekday, late night, and evening programming)
* Represent OSE at signature university-wide events and programs such as Open House, Pirate Preview, New Student Orientation, Welcome Week, Leadership Awards, Impact (Leadership) Conference, and other events as determined
* Providing training and development for student leaders including resource development, in-person/virtual training session, and/or identifying ways to address student groups' needs.
* Working with key campus partners, including Center for Academic Success(CAS), Admissions, Housing and Residence Life, various Student Services units, University Libraries, and other academic departments
* Expanding the work of creating an inclusive community for underrepresented students, including but not limited to supporting initiatives and programming for the University-wide Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree
Enrolled as an active/matriculated graduate student at Seton Hall University
Good judicial standing
