Job Description:

Position Summary:

Leads, develops, and oversees all aspects of the grain facility. Directs the operations of the facility including production, personnel, maintenance, and safety. Responsible for marketing and originating grain, building positive relations with local producers, and providing exceptional customer service to our patrons.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Grain Management

* Responsible for the direction of daily operations at the facility.

* Lead and motivate staff to create productivity, efficiencies, and a high-level of customer service.

* Set proper hours for location operations to work with and satisfy customers, manage operations staff, and communicate to management.

* Provide exceptional customer service by being courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable, and resolve complaints in a timely manner.

* Communicate closely and effectively with Merchandising.

* Coordinate with Grain Division Operational Manger on a regular basis.

* Operate the grain scale when needed including weighing and grading inbound and outbound grain and issuing scale tickets.

* Assure proper grain storage and conditioning and coordinate grain inventory.

* Oversee grain dryer operations to promote efficiency.

* Blend grain for load out to obtain the highest grade and price.

* Assure the grain is loaded out appropriately.

* Maintain good housekeeping to improve worksite safety to reduce chances of fire, dust collection, or rodent infestation.

* Supervise critical operations to keep facility open and running including loading and unloading trucks and railcars.

* Oversee facility compliance with OSHA, DATCAP, trucking/logistics and United Cooperative's safety program.

* Communicate company information, policies, and procedures to staff.

* Attend all company meetings deemed necessary by management.

Supervision

* Supervise, lead, organize, train, and develop employees through effective staffing, leadership, and setting and managing individual job performance standards for each employee.

* Recommend selection of employees based on job requirements, staff and adjust workforce to fit seasonal needs with a minimum of unproductive labor costs.

* Employ seasonal work sharing agreements to minimize layoffs and unemployment costs.

* Keep employees updated on new product knowledge.

* Conduct performance evaluations and merit reviews on an annual basis.

* Establish and communicate department goals.

Qualifications:

* Must have a minimum 2 years' experience in grain.

* Must have a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience with proven ability to coach and train employees.

* Must have working knowledge of operations with quality control and safety.

* Must be able to lift, carry up to 50 lbs.

* Cooperative and agricultural background preferred, but not required.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

* The employee will be exposed to all weather conditions, heights, confined spaces (with training) and dust.

* Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
