SUMMARY The Grain Supply Manager is responsible for all aspects of grain management in the Winona location. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, direction, leadership, operations, maintenance, sanitation, quality, human and food safety, training, development of capital projects and overall efficiencies within the elevator.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Is responsible for a variety of support and service functions including: •Wheat mix cost variance data•Maintain all functionality surrounding wheat mixes. •Coordinate maintenance and operations in accordance with Company Policies, principles, and procedures.•Monitors in transit rail and communicates on a regular basis with Grain Department.•Monitors inbound rail vs. inventory and grain required to minimize demurrage while maintaining sufficient grain for required production.•Oversees and prepares railroad switching of inbound and release of outbound rail.•Insures proper handling of rail car air and hand brake systems and couplers.•Oversees and participates in the operation of the switch to engine to safely and smoothly move cars to and from pre-loading position. Insures proper preventive maintenance of the track mobile.•Ensures the sampling of inbound wheat shipments following specified standards while maintaining sample identity.•Prepares a proper track line-up daily. •Insures the proper monthly rail check weights are made and reported through the operation a computerized scale system for proper weighing of inbound wheat. •Maintains proper records on scale tickets and inbound car sheets.•Oversees the operation and participates in blending of wheat bins.•Responsible for maintaining housekeeping throughout the elevator area inside and out.•Must develop and recommend budgets to Plant Management.•Must develop and recommend capital plan projects to Plant Management •Perform other duties or tasks as required.•Responsible for operating within departmental budget.QUALIFICATIONS to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret memos, technical procedures, and government regulations. Must have the ability to write English and complete reports.WORKING CONDITIONS•The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee successfully performing the essential functions of this job. •Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.•The work environment is in a plant manufacturing facility, containing various amounts of dust in the atmosphere, related to the transfer, and moving of wheat.•Expected frequent contact with operational aspects of the elevator site, operating personnel, and lab and office employees.•While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to mechanical parts, fumes and air borne particles. Exposure to temperatures in excess of 100 degrees F. is expected.•Noise level in the work environment can be in excess of 100dB. Hearing protection is provided and required in certain areas. •Must be able to work in hot, dusty, humid environments and cold wet environments.•Food Safety /Security Requirements:•The company is committed to producing and delivering defect-free products. To ensure this, all employees are required to be trained on and adhere to GMP policies set forth by the Company.•It is also vital that all employees be aware of their environment and prevents any accidental or intentional adulteration of products produced.SAFETYWhile performing the essential job duties and responsibilities, the employee and those who report to the elevator manager are expected to work in a safe manner and follow company policies regarding safety as are all employees of Bay State Milling Company.TEAMWORKEnsure that appropriate individuals are informed about matters impacting their areas of responsibility. Arrives at work on time and follows company policies on vacations, leaves of absence etc. Observes and follows Company policies.FOOD SAFETY / SECURITY REQUIREMENTSThe Company is committed to producing and delivering defect-free products. To ensure this, all employees are required to be trained on and adhere to the Good Manufacturing Policies set forth by the Company as they pertain to personnel practices, equipment, and facilities. It is also vital that all employees be aware of the work environment and when possible, prevent accidental or intentional adulteration of products produced at this facility. As a result, any employee has a right to put product on hold if they have a concern. At the plant level, only the Quality Assurance Manager and General Manager have the authority to release product on hold.
