Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the entire accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present financial reports to management, board of directors, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage the organization's annual budget, monitor actual results against the budget, and provide explanations for any variances.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements by studying existing and new legislation and maintaining compliance with financial and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
  • Implement, maintain, and review financial policies and procedures to ensure internal control.
  • Assist in strategic planning and decision-making at the management level by providing pertinent financial input.
  • Work closely with program directors and project managers to provide financial information and analysis that will aid in decision-making.
  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A CPA designation is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and federal and state financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in budget development and oversight, as well as financial analysis and forecasting.
  • Experience with financial software and systems, and a high degree of proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
