This is an exciting opportunity to join the Turning Point team with the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board. Delivers comprehensive mental health promotion services to children, youth, adults, families and providers throughout the community. Due to the pandemic, training occurs both virtually and in-person. These services are designed to provide education to the community about CSB programming while also establishing relationships for on-going referrals to specific psychosis related programs. Establishes and maintains relationships with community partners to build capacity in the community via presentations, consultations, and technical assistance. Engages community partners to identify and mobilize resources. Implements, collaborates with, and supports countywide health promotion and substance abuse prevention initiatives and campaigns.
- Participates in community-level planning and data collection and evaluation.
- Collaborates with service professionals inside and outside of the Community Services Board;
- Conducts health promotion services.
- Develops and maintains cooperative relationships with representatives of community groups and public and private agencies;
- Prepares and administers behavioral health educational curricula. This is a fantastic opportunity for master's level students in mental health or social work positions who want to make a difference in the community, learn about working with a specialized population, and have a low stress position/job.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of the principles, theories, and methods of behavioral health services and social development of the individual;
- Knowledge of evidence based behavioral health treatment methods;
- Knowledge of psychological, physiological and psychiatric terminology, theories and practices;
- Knowledge of existing public and private agencies and community resources;
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, public and private organizations, community groups, and the general public;
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
- Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
Skills Preferred
- Prior experience with training and giving power point presentations
- Experience with advertising or sales Outgoing Proficiency in Microsoft apps
- Bilingual Spanish- English strongly preferredExperience Required
- At least one year experience giving presentations or making presentations for community health/mental health
- Basic knowledge and experience of mental health conditions, stigma, and social justice
Experience Preferred
- Prior experience in outreach, sales, or advertising
- Experienced with facilitating prevention-focused training to community groups
- Experience with implementing community workshops
Education Required
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, nursing, counseling or a related field, plus one year of clinically relevant experience.
