Job Description:

The Grants & Contracts Management Senior Analyst will oversee and manage all pre-award activities for assigned principal investigators as part of the COM Grants Management Office (GMO). The GMO submits over 1000 proposals each year to federal, foundation, and industry sponsors.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development and preparation of grant proposals in collaboration with the Principal Investigator (PI).
  • Serve as a resource for team members with proposal development.
  • Contribute to training of new staff.
  • Provide expertise in support of all pre-award activities, including budget creation and review of required administrative components of grant proposal submission.
  • Establish appropriate sub-recipient budgets and documents as needed for grant submissions.
  • Coordinate proposal submissions with the Office of Sponsored Programs.
  • Investigate and evaluate compliance with regulations and guidelines of program funding.
  • Participate in educational onboarding of new PIs and their staff.
  • Utilize knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to research.
  • Research, interpret, and develop written policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to compliance in financial policies and procedures.
  • Minimum Education Required:

    Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Additional Education Desired:

    Certified Research Administrator or Certified Financial Research Administrator certification.

    Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in research administration, including grant and/or contract management.
  • Considerable knowledge of grant & contract regulations.
  • Experience working with federal or private agency sponsors.
  • Experience with all types of NIH award mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NIH federal sponsor regulations.
  • Basic ability to interpret terms and conditions of legal agreements.
  • Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with electronic research administration tools & systems.
  • Familiarity with Workday financials & HR systems.
  • Ability to think strategically and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills necessary for intricate job-related processes.
