Job DetailsLevel Undisclosed Job Location Geary Location - San Francisco, CA Remote Type Optional Work from Home Position Type Undisclosed Education Level Undisclosed Salary Range $68,000.00 - $73,000.00 Salary/year Travel Percentage Undisclosed Job Shift Undisclosed Job Category Finance DescriptionTITLE: Grants and Contracts Specialist DIVISION: Administration RATE: $68,000-73,000 DOE STATUS/SCHEDULE: Exempt, full-time, 40 hours per week (Some evening and weekend hours may be required) SUPERVISOR: Director of Finance POSITION SUMMARY: As a member of the Agency's Finance team, the Grants and Contracts Specialist is charged with building collaborative relationships across the agency and providing support in pre- and post-award grants administration. Pre-award duties include: supporting staff through the proposal and budget development process and communicating effectively across programs. Post-award responsibilities include: approving grant expenses, monitoring budgets, and financial/compliance reporting as required by funders. Funders can be state, local, or federal agencies or private foundations. The Grants and Contracts Specialist will administer policies and procedures with a strong focus on compliance with the funding agency and HYP's accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have a welcoming attitude and be able to effectively manage difficult situations; will take ownership of assigned duties by independently shepherding tasks to a successful conclusion; will promptly communicate problems and issues to the Financial Director; will be able to meet deadlines and work accurately; and will be both a knowledgeable resource and the link between programs, staff and clients. They will work closely with Finance, Development, Administration and Programs staff. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: •Provide full-cycle fiscal management for all contracts and grants •Recommend grant-related policies to support overall organizational goals, priorities, and requirements, including compliance with laws and regulations •Develop budgets for grant proposals •Capture, track and report revenue and expenses; determine appropriate procedures for accounting record preparation, research of transactions and reporting. •Collect data and perform research on details of transactions. Generate, review, analyze and communicate financial data that reflects performance against approved budgets. •Work with Program Directors to determine appropriate financial charges that are allocable and allowable to the various funding sources. •Ensure compliance with contract and subcontractor award terms and conditions •Prepare grant-related financial reports for various types of funders •Manage monthly invoicing process, including staff allocations, and follow up as needed •Conduct budget review and revisions as necessary •Serve as a liaison between Finance and Development and Programs •Other duties as assigned QualificationsCOMPETENCIES: •Ability to administer a large-scale, highly collaborative grant program involving cross-department team members •Proactive and action-oriented personality; strong sense of pace and urgency •Familiarity with government grants - preferably local, state and federal •Knowledge of grant funding processes, procedures and techniques •Ability to manage and prioritize multiple complex tasks and maintain composure under demanding deadlines. Proven problem-solving skills and solutions-focused attitude. •Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of grants administration •Ability to manage high volume of transactions with an outstanding attention to detail •Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with accounting systems •Knowledge of restricted gift accounting and reporting GAAP requirements •Advanced communication skills, including the ability to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal audiences •Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills •Strong professional ethics and discretion COMPUTER SKILLS AND TECHNICAL SKILLS •Intermediate or higher proficiency in Google Workspace, Excel, Word, Salesforce and Quickbooks WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position has the option to operate in HYP's Administrative Offices in San Francisco, hybrid or fully remote. The HYP Administrative Offices are located in San Francisco and are accessible by public transportation.The incumbent must work and reside in California, with a preference for the SF Bay Area. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 1. Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Accounting, and/or the equivalent working experience/training 2. Two to four years of grants experience PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Demonstrated experience in full-cycle grants management
  • Experience in non-profit accounting
