Spalding is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, self-motivated individual to fill the position of Grants Officer for Spalding University's Office of Sponsored Programs and Research (OSPRe). This individual will support faculty and staff efforts to identify and apply for grants and contract opportunities. The Grants Officer helps across the whole range of project management, which includes ensuring accurate reporting, supporting the responsible stewardship of funds, and facilitating the ongoing management of externally funded projects. Salary for this position is $55,000/year with a comprehensive benefits package which includes, medical, dental and vision coverage, 403b, 23 Paid Time Off days, 21 Holidays, tuition remission and much more.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Identifying, researching, and developing proposals that move the institution's mission and vision forward, staying abreast of institutional priority areas.
  • Ability to research, write, and submit funding proposals in a clear, concise, and compelling manner to government, foundation, and other funding entities
  • Provide full life cycle writing support for grant submissions, including managing timelines, collecting data and information from a variety of sources, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders involved in the submission process.
  • Provide hands-on support to faculty, staff, and students seeking to secure funding for their research projects.
  • Interpret and disseminate funding notices for lay personnel involved in the application process.
  • Assist in maintaining an annual calendar of proposal deadlines, reports, and related activities to ensure all pending deadlines are met.
  • Work collaboratively with various College departments to secure appropriate information in support of proposal submissions.
  • Works independently and with university faculty and staff to assemble proposal information such as project scope, goals, logic models, implementation plan, methods, timelines, staffing, budget, standards of performance and evaluation.
  • Develops, coordinates, and conducts Spalding-wide training sessions on proposal proficiencies
  • Support all functions of the Advancement team.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
QualificationsSKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required, Master's preferred.
  • 5 or more years related grant writing experience, with particular preference for non-profit and higher education grant writing experience
  • Proven track record in grant writing including but not limited to local and state government grants, federal funding requests, capacity-building proposals and funding requests to private and family foundations
  • Ability to analyze and systematically compile technical and statistical information and to prepare reports and correspondence; comprehend and make inferences from written material; interpret federal, state, and local government laws and regulations regarding grant contracts and administration;
  • Able to effectively interact with diverse population of students and faculty
  • Highly Proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Proficiency with donor relationship software
  • 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit, and/or higher education advancement is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent research, interpersonal, oral and written skills are required to succeed in this position.
  • The ideal candidate will be well organized, resourceful, intuitive, and possess a high emotional and situational intelligence that will come in handy daily.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:This is a full-time position. Work hours will vary depending on funder and other institutional deadlines. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
