Number of Vacancies: 1Area of Consideration: Open To The PublicPosition Status: Full-Time, RegularPay Plan, Series & Grade: DS0058/5Salary Range: $80,625- $93,954Closing Date: Open Until FilledLocation: 4200 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20008Brief Description of Duties: Reporting tothe Director of Development, the Grants Officer fosters meaningful engagement with companies and private foundations to advance the University's education, research, and service mission through collaboration with University faculty and staff. Responsibilities include conducting research, vetting, qualifying, ranking, planning, and developing proposals to ensure that all funding opportunities align with the University's strategic plan and mission. The position requires writing highly competitive proposals in partnership with university schools/units' representatives and delivering timely submissions of well-researched, planned, and written grant proposals that persuasively communicate UDC needs and result in funding. The Grants Officer builds coalitions and collaborative networks with faculty members, UDC staff, and funding partners, working independently with stakeholders to produce relationships across constituencies.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develops annual comprehensive strategic plans for corporate and foundation relationships and works closely with the Director of Development, Vice President for Advancement, and internal officers.Creates an active pipeline of 50+ corporate and foundation prospects through identification, qualification, and cultivation efforts.In collaboration with Advancement team members and other campus partners, conducts stewardship visits on-site and off-site.Develops letters of inquiry, presentation decks, proposals, and Memoranda of Understanding documents, managing the overall quality, accuracy, and timeliness of all written correspondence.Establishes and maintains collaborative partnerships with deans, key faculty, and staff within the Office Sponsored Programs, Office of External Relations, and Office of Career Services.Partners with the Advancement staff to ensure pertinent information is available for timely submission to donors.Utilizes the department's CRM system and prospect research platforms daily to manage and track all donor and prospect engagement and communications.Performs all other duties as assigned. Minimum Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience in professional fundraising or writing-intensive roles.Authentic passion for UDC's mission and desire to foster practices incorporating diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.Demonstrated success in writing proposals for corporate sponsorship opportunities and/or grant writing.Ability to anticipate, resolve, and mitigate complex, technical, administrative, and other problems.Experience working independently and with program staff and UDC Foundation to assemble proposal information.Experience developing proposal concepts, strategies, and coordinating strategy meetings.Develops, coordinates, and conducts UDC-wide training sessions on proposal development proficiencies.Maintains a sound knowledge of UDC's mission, colleges and schools, programs, target population, and strategic vision.Availability to work evenings and weekends as required.
