Job Title: Grants & Operations ManagerDepartment: School Business OfficeReports To: Director of Finance and OperationsSalary: $80,000 to $85,000SUMMARY:This position provides hands-on operations and accounting/finance support to the District at the direction of the Director of Finance & Operations and the Assistant business manager. Training will be provided to a candidate who can meet the knowledge, skills and ability requirements.The successful candidate will:

Duties include but are not limited to:
- Manage school grants in accordance with State and Federal requirements, track expenditures to grant budget, draw funds using the state website, and prepare and file grant amendments
- Prepare and file final grant reports to applicable outside agencies.
- Help staff with grant management and grant finances. Attend grants meetings. Keep organized and complete electronic and paper files as needed in preparation for grants audits
- Prepare Grants information for the annual End of Year Report
- Maintain and update the Grants Procedure Manual on an annual basis
- Manage all regular transportation including registrations, bus passes, letters to parents/guardians, creating bus routes and collaborating with Watertown Police Department and the bus vendor to coordinate approval of routes. Watertown contracts bus service, no dispatching required. We run single and double-tiered buses.
- Respond to emergency transportation issues and communications, including on occasion before and after regular hours
- Track bus evacuation drill schedules and bus vendor required documentation (CORIs, insurance, etc.)
- Support other Business Office staff during periods of high demand and/or to cover absences, or for special projects including but not limited to: Serve as alternate to post activities in the online registration and payment software. Serve as alternate to manage rentals
- Assist with payroll prep and other Finance Office operations as needed
- Prepare documents, which may include creating and inserting graphs, tables and graphics, paginating
- Prepare presentations using Excel documents, Powerpoint slides, etc.
- Other finance office duties or tasks as may be assigned by the Director of Finance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (business, management, accounting, or related) preferred but not required.
- Two years of experience as a full-charge bookkeeper, accountant, budget analyst, or similar position. Grants experience desired but will train. Private sector experience qualifies
- Massachusetts Procurement certification or ability to attain certification within two years of hire (District will pay course expenses - 2 courses, 3 days each or self-paced online)
- Or any combination of skills, knowledge and experience that the Superintendent and Director deem suitable
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Intermediate to advanced skills in utilizing Microsoft Office products, most notably Microsoft Excel and Word
- Prior experience using or ability to quickly obtain proficiency with software applications such as MUNIS (highly desired but will train)
- Ability to recognize and resolve problems with minimal administrative intervention
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong analytical ability
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of standard office procedures and practices
