Job Summary
  • Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College is hiring a full-time Grants Specialist in our Institutional Advancement Department. This position is responsible for researching grant opportunities, writing, securing, and managing grants to further the strategic priorities of the college. The successful candidate will oversee the management of grants and related budgets and ensure follow-up action and required reporting.The person chosen for this position would be able to work from any of our six campuses: Cumberland, Harlan, Knox, Middlesboro, Pineville, and Whitesburg. May have the ability for some remote work. This is a 12-month defined contract position.
Job Duties:
  • 1. Grant Management: Manage and provide full oversight of grants and related budgets to achieve project outcomes. Serve as principal investigator as necessary. Monitor and ensure compliance with grant provisions, collect relevant documents, prepare progress and financial reports, and manage project changes and interventions as needed. 2. Grant Development: Compile, write, and submit funding proposals according to grantors requirements and deadlines, including all narratives, budgets, and supportive documentation. Coordinate and direct all activities of the grant development team(s) to research ideas, gather background information, compile, and write successful proposals. 3. Grant Identification: Develop relationships with key stakeholders and funders. Acquire and maintain expert knowledge and understanding of the college to identify and seek creative solutions for those needs and opportunities suitable for grant funding. Engage in proactive research of needed guidelines and priorities for grant funding organizations and networks to determine feasibility of funding for college projects and programs. 4. Procedural Oversight: Develop and implement procedures and policies on grant process compliance in accordance with system and institutional policies. Implement tools and strategies that foster continuous improvement in the organization's capacity to support strategic goals and plans.5. Training: Provide or arrange for individual and group training to support grant initiatives. Oversee the Grant Advisory Committee. Serve as the liaison for external or internal agreements between the college and KCTCS, sponsored projects, and the district.6. Professional Development & Service: Perform internal service, external service, professional development, as defined in the annual performance planning process, and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BA/BS in field with strong written communication skills•Experience in grant management and proposal writing•Four (4) years' relevant work experience •Project management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree •Grant writing/management experience •Experience and knowledge of higher education •Knowledge of federal grant/contract regulations and procedures •Project management certification
