Summary of Position The award-winning Visual, Audio, and Media Arts (VAMA) Department at Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) is seeking a part-time Instructor to teach Graphic Design courses during the upcoming Spring 2025 semester. The part-time Instructor will provide instructional duties in the area of graphic design, including classroom instruction, student assessment, and other related instructional tasks. Instructional delivery may include face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats. Instructors could teach from 1-4 courses (3 credits) per semester. Most courses are full-term (15 weeks) and meet once or twice per week.The Instructor will be expected to demonstrate patience, respect, and clear communication of expectations for student work, while also displaying dedication to both the course content and the overall goals of the program.This position reports to the Department Chair. The work schedule for this position is varies and classes may be held days, evenings, and weekends, at the Lakewood location. This position may require hours outside of the normal work schedule.This position may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need.   • Excellent oral, written and listening skills.
  • Experience in Graphic Design, Web and UI/UX fields
  • Experience with professional software as a graphic designer and web designer, and UI/UX, such as the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Flexible teaching style to accommodate individual learning styles.
  • Consider and willingness to create an environment based on equity, inclusion, and diversity.
  • Knowledge on designing for accessibility.
  • Ability to work with and motivate students.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn computer programs and learning management systems used in the department and on-campus, such as Desire2Learn.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Multimedia Graphic Design or a closely related field.
  • Has, or qualifies for, post secondary CTE credential including 4000 non-teaching occupational hours within the last 7 years (2000 hours if at Bachelor's or higher)

  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

RRCC/CCCS uses an initial 12-month measurement period to determine medical benefit eligibility, and a 12-month standard measurement period. Student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours a week when classes are in session, and may work up to 28 hours a week, during academic breaks or breaks between terms at the discretion of the college, and non-classified hourly and temporary staff are limited to 28 hours in a workweek, depending on budget and need.
