Salary: $16.95 HourlyLocation : High Point, NC 27260Job Type: Part-time w/BenefitsJob Number: 6118Department: Parks & Recreation Special FacilitiesOpening Date: 08/19/2024Closing Date: ContinuousJob DescriptionThe Grillroom Attendant (PB) assists in the operation and maintenance of a grillroom; does related work as required. Grillroom Attendant (PB) also assists in the operation and maintenance of the golf shop and clubhouse, as needed. Work is performed under regular supervision of the Grillroom Supervisor and the Golf Professional. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be 18 years of age. Must agree to sell beer. Essential Tasks
  • Greets customers, accepts and places orders, and serves food and merchandise;
  • Cleans and prepares tables, and assists with preparation of food;
  • Answers telephone questions and takes phone orders;
  • Waits on customers, accepts and places orders;
  • Assists with group catering and serving;
  • Serves as cashier, balances cash drawer, completes daily revenue calculation, prepares deposits;
  • Assists with collection, accounting for, and reporting of daily receipts;
  • Assists with planning menus, ordering food and supplies;
  • Checks deliveries for accuracy, stocks shelves as required;
  • Assists in enforcing the facility rules and regulations;
  • Assists in all tournament-related activities, including: leagues, golf associations, group outings, tournaments, school activities, etc.
  • Assists with golf cart management and performs related work as required;
  • Performs general custodial duties, removes trash, cleans kitchen counters and floor, cleans dining area;
  • Opens grillroom and/or golf shop at beginning of work day, closes and secures at end of work day;
  • Ensures that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA and City Safety Standards and Policies.
Qualifications
  • Completion of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Knowledge and experience in the operation of a grillroom
  • Valid North Carolina Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
  • General knowledge about the game of golf
Physical RequirementsHearing/Speaking - Expressing and/or receiving information by means of spoken word are both necessary to converse with customers in taking food and merchandise orders, and when customers call on the telephone for information.Visual Abilities - the ability to perceive via eyesight is required for this position:
  • Acuity, far - clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. Must be able to see tables and customers at far side of grillroom. Both eyes 20/25 - R 20/30 - L 20/30 corrected
  • Acuity, near - clarity of vision at 20 inches or less. Must be able to see utensils, food, appliances, telephone, and paperwork near at hand. Both eyes 20/22 corrected
  • Depth perception - Three-dimensional vision and the ability to judge distance and space relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are. Must be able to judge distances so as to use both hands in performing different tasks at the same time. Depth perception - 4
  • Field of Vision - the area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while eyes are focused on one point. Must be able to see wide span of area to cover grillroom and customers entering and leaving.
  • Accommodation - Must be able to adjust the eye lens to glance quickly. This item is especially important when doing near-point work at varying distances from eye. Must be able to adjust eye lens to focus readily when glancing from near work to distance work. Must be able to glance quickly at customers who are located at varying distances to monitor activities and ensure safety at all areas.
Physical Strength - degree of physical demands typically associated with this position include:
  • Medium to Heavy Work
  • Exerting force constantly to answer telephone, move objects to sweep and mop.
  • Work requires walking, standing, stooping, bending, lifting, stretching, pushing, and pulling, although worker does sit on occasions. There is significant use of arms, hands, feet, and legs.

  • Reaching - Extending the hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
  • Handling - Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand(s).
  • Fingering - Picking, pinching or otherwise working with fingers primarily rather than the entire hand or arm.

  • Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to work tasks and practical situations and requests made by supervisor or members of the public; to comprehend and respond to a variety of situations in an expedient manner. Good judgement is important because the individual will interact directly with the public on a constant basis and may be working in the absence of a supervisor.
Mathematics Ability
  • Using arithmetic and/or Statistics: Ability to use arithmetic to add charges for purchase of food and merchandise, calculate tax percentages, count money and make change, figure daily revenue collections, and make various reports.
Language Ability
  • The ability to speak, read and write the English Language are required for this position. Grillroom Attendant must be conversant in voice in and diction so as to participate in discussions by telephone and in person. Grillroom Attendant will read menus, stock lists, deposits, cooking instructions, and other documents related to the job. Grillroom Attendant will write food or merchandise orders received in person or by telephone, deposit and storeroom information, and keep notes on stock to be ordered.
Environmental ConditionsPhysical Surroundings
  • The Grillroom Attendant - The worker is subject to Inside Environmental Conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Work is confined to grillroom and storeroom. May be required to travel in good or inclement weather to replenish stock.
Hazards
  • The Grillroom Attendant - Operations employee will be exposed to trash and cleaning chemicals. Work is subject to final standards of OSHA on bloodborne pathogens.

  • Items which may be representative, but not all inclusive, of those commonly associated with this type of work: Cash register, drink dispensers, stairs, miscellaneous kitchen tools and utensils, grill, hot plate, deep fat fryer, microwave, First Aid supplies, food warmers, hot dog machine, telephone, step ladders, broom, mop, mop bucket, note pads, pen, pencils, menus, recipes and Personnel Resolution.
