Position: Grinder Helper

Location: Plant City, FL

Pay Rate: $18.69/hr. plus .50 shift differential

While reporting to the Supervisor, as the Grinder Helper, you will be responsible for collaborating and contributing to the production environment within our manufacturing operations. Safety, quality, productivity, and strong work ethic are important to the Sonoco culture.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Responsible for all scrap being produced by both Extrusion and Thermoforming departments. The scrap will need to be placed directly into scrap trailers and kept off the warehouse floor
• Good communication skills. Will require communication and scheduling of scrap and roll trucks with our shipping department

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or GED is preferred.
• Must have Forklift experience

Skills and Abilities Requirements:

• Good communication skills.
• Ability to read, write and speak in English
• Must be able to adhere to strict PPE requirements, including wearing face shields, earmuffs, gloves and steel-toe boots.
• Forklift and clamp truck driving experience. Certification will be onsite.

• Other duties as assigned:
  • Ability to work a 12-hour shift, standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Climbing, lift and carry products weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Visually read various safety postings, bulletin boards, operating instructions, and computer monitors / screens.
  • Hear safety warning devices and alarms.

• Must be prompt in reporting to work and prompt in notifying supervisor if unable to report to work.
