  • Installation of telecommunications and power cables.
  • Weather permitting, this is a 40-hour-per-week job.
  • Performs work or operates vehicle/equipment only where training and qualification have been provided.
  • Comply with all safety and health rules.
  • Demonstrate safe work behavior
  • Stop work whenever unsafe acts or conditions are present.
  • Reports all injuries no matter how minor to the Foreperson Immediately.
  • Report all incidents and near misses to Foreperson.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to operate equipment (i.e. duct rodders, tiller, plow, trenching, and boring machines)
  • Must be able to write, read and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.
  • Must possess strong communication skills both written and spoken.
  • Must be able to communicate and handle confrontations professionally.
  • Must have transportation to and from the show-up location.
  • Must be able to maintain attention during dangerous tasks.
  • Must be able to lift, move and maneuver up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis, and up to 10 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Must have the endurance necessary to perform these duties throughout a standard eight- or ten-hour day. Must be able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies (including holidays, weekends, etc. Subject to call-out work).
  • Must be able to operate and service all required tools and equipment.
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in underground construction is preferred.
Pre-Screen
  • Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.

Travel Requirements:
  • Willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work.
Physical Requirements:
  • RARE (up to 10%): stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing poles, reading, reaching, color vision, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, climbing stairs, balancing, lifting up to 10 lbs.
  • OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): sitting, kneeling, body twisting, sense of touch, seeing distant, climbing on/off truck, lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., range of motion, depth perception, lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • FREQUENT (up to 66 %): standing, walking, manual dexterity, gripping, lifting, carrying.
  • CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): speaking clearly, seeing, hearing-speech range.
Safety Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.
  • Works around hazardous equipment
  • Works near energized parts or equipment.
  • Works in all temperatures and will be exposed to nature i.e., irritating plants and biting or stinging insects.
  • Will be exposed to traffic.
  • Works around excessive noise from machines, jackhammers, chain saws and other equipment with proper hearing protection.
  • Employee will be exposed to hot and cold environments, poisonous plants or reptiles, and stinging insects.
