Grounds and Maintenance WorkerJob no: 492927 Work type: Staff Full Time - Full Year Location: Lewiston, ME Categories: Grounds & MaintenanceTitle: Grounds and Maintenance WorkerPosition Purpose:*Internal Applicants Only May Apply*Maintaining the grounds of all College owned properties.This position may be considered Essential Personnel in the event that:
  • An emergency occurs on the Bates campus or in the vicinity that would impact Bates,
  • Inclement weather forces the closing of campus,
  • Or other emergency events deemed appropriate.
Job Duties:
  • Operate all grounds maintenance related equipment.
  • Perform all grounds maintenance related tasks.
  • Perform all tasks in accordance with recognized National and College safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete all assigned work orders in a timely manner
  • Continually strive for work performance and shop procedure efficiencies.
  • Perform routine emergency response on call duty when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have valid Maine driver's license.
Experience
  • 2 years of experience.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Ability to logically trouble-shoot equipment problems.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in the conduct of the job.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and outside contacts.
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends, evenings, on-call and other non-traditional schedules.
