Full-Time, 40 hours per weekJOB SUMMARYMaintain landscape and streets of John Knox Village under supervision.Responsible for followinginstructions and carrying out assignments properly.Supportive of the Village's mission, values, and service/hospitality (PRIDE) expectations.Completes training hours as required by policy.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Cuts lawns using hand mower or power mower.Trims and edges walks, flower beds and walls using clippers, weed cutters and edging tools.Prune shrubs and trees.Removes damaged leaves and branches using shears, pruner or saw.Cleans grounds and removes litter, cleans gutters, drainage ditches/ culverts.
- Spreads salt on public passageways to prevent ice build-up.Shovels snow from walks and driveways.May also plow and use snow blower. Available on-call for snow removal and helps with cold patch repair.
- Plants grass, flowers, trees and shrubs, amends beds.
- Repair equipment, irrigation systems, fences, gates, walls, walks and bumper blocks.Grinds/sharpens tools.
- May perform ground maintenance duties using tractor equipped with attachments.
- Trash pickup, recycling, empties excrement bins, takes care of mulching/compost.
- Operates forklift, Bobcat, street sweeper, chain saw and other lawn equipment.
- Pulls weeds, helps with leaf removal in the fall and gum balls in the spring
- Sprays under management license and applies fertilizers
- Handles work orders and move jobs, including furniture, pianos, couches, etc.
- Sets up for John Knox Village events.
- Ability to learn and implement proper watering techniques for annuals, proper watering trees and shrubs to avoid overwatering, watering seed and sod.
- Adheres to all safety regulations and requirements.
- Handles stress well and gets along with others within the workplace and with customers outside the department.
- Maintains acceptable standards of workplace conduct.

- This position requires the level of education typically acquired by a course of study leading to a high school diploma or GED.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Missouri Class E driver's license or equivalent within 30 days of hire.
Knowledge and Skills (required unless otherwise noted):
- Must have excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task and follow instructions.
- Ability to speak, read and write simple sentences, paragraphs and correspondence.
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
- The associate is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions including extreme cold temperatures typically below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour or extreme heat temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
