Support/Hourly - Position - Crew Lead Job Number 000####### Start Date Open Date 06/22/2023 Closing Date PRIMARY PURPOSE:The Grounds Crew Lead shall be responsible to maintain all district's grounds and manage theGroundskeepers. Additionally, the position will participate in the daily maintenance, operations, andapplication of fertilizers and herbicides to ensure district campus grounds are safe, functional, andattractive.QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to read and understand verbal instructions in English High School Diploma or GED from an accredited Institution preferred Valid TX driver's license Class C required (Class B preferred) Knowledge of chemical safety and chemical storage best management practices Ability to safely operate motorized grounds keeping equipment Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. without assistance 2 years in a supervisory capacity preferred 2 years of experience in grounds keeping, landscape maintenance, and athletic field care preferred 1 years of experience in herbicide and/or pesticide application preferred 1 year weed control experience preferredMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Supervises the Athletic Groundskeepers and ensures that the staff abides by Arlington ISD policiesand procedures. Follow all AISD safety procedures as covered in AISD safety handbook Abide by all AISD policies and procedures as outlined in AISD auxiliary employee handbook Comply with all required laws, rules, regulations, and ordinances applicable to obtaining herbicidesand pesticides, their application, storage, and disposal of said materials and containers. Oversee grounds personnel and maintain operation to ensure district athletic grounds are safe, neat,and well maintained. Assume responsibility for safe operation and care of assigned service vehicle, tools, and equipment Assume responsibility for personal time card Maintain a program of preventive maintenance to assure the health and safety of students and staff Maintain procedures for locking, safeguarding and checking exterior facilities Maintain department schedules, handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines Make minor facility repairs and report major repairs as needed to supervisor Inspect vehicles and equipment for safety and efficiency Follow compliance with Occupational Health and Safety codes and standards Maintain effective and positive public relations with customers and fellow employees Practice high stands of safety and good housekeeping skills in all work related areas, and leave allwork areas in a clean and orderly manner upon completion of all job assignments. Perform other duties as assigned by the foreman or grounds supervisor Position may require overtime, as necessary to maintain function of District facilities Position will respond to service calls in a timely manner while serving on-call duty, as necessary tomaintain function of District facilities. Any other duties as may be directed by your immediate supervisor and/or any other supervisor withinyour line of authority.SUPERVISORY RESPOSIBILITIES: Groundskeepers 1 & 2MENTAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Tools/Equipment Used: Garden tools; small hand tools; power tools; heavy equipment includingbackhoe, tractor, grader; and power mower; light truck or van. Use of tools/equipment requiring ahigh degree of dexterity Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting;work in tiring and uncomfortable positions Motion: Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching;frequent driving Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) daily. Occasionally move objects up to75 pounds; ascend/descend ladders, scaffolding ramps, poles. Environment: Work outside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure toextreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, noise, vibration; exposure to chemical (herbicides andfertilizer) and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone;regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel. Willwork in, under, around, and outside of all AISD facilities, will be exposed to all outsideconditions found in this region of Texas, exposure to dust, chemicals, and other materials andslippery and uneven walking surfaces.
