Posting DetailsPosition InformationJob Title Grounds Foreman Department Maintenance of Grounds - 40340 Pay Grade 5 Job Category Support Staff Job Summary ETSU is accepting applications for a Grounds Foreman.Work performed includes supervising a group of utility workers maintaining the grounds on campus. Supervises personnel engaged in cutting grass, trimming and pruning shrubs and trees, designing annual bed plantings, ordering annual flowers, planting flowers, watering and maintaining annual flower beds, and a variety of other tasks associated with grounds maintenance, landscaping, and other related horticultural areas. Supervises personnel in the proper use of tools and equipment. Delivers and distributes equipment and supplies to employees. Instruct new personnel in the approved courses of procedure and the appropriate methods involved in the job tasks. Performing tasks of a semi-skilled nature including mowing, equipment maintenance, irrigation maintenance, observation of turf problems, fertilizer calibration and application, scheduling, and other duties as assigned.Ability to work overtime as needed including weekends and evenings. Facilities employees may be required to report at their regularly scheduled times during emergency closures or during inclement weather to perform essential functions including snow removal duties.The value of employment at ETSU goes far beyond salary. - Knowledge of landscape and horticulture skills.
- Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and practices used in ground maintenance activities.
- Knowledge of landscaping procedures.
- Knowledge of IPM practices used in Horticulture
- Ability to direct the work of others.
- Ability to use and maintain a variety of hand tools, power tools, and other related equipment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to instruct and supervise others of lower classification.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.
- Knowledge of materials and equipment used in turf and grounds maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in ground maintenance, gardening, landscaping, horticulture, or related areas.
- Must maintain a valid Driver License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years experience in ground maintenance, gardening, landscaping, horticulture, or related areas.
- High School diploma or GED .
