Dynamic Systems Job Description Job Title: Grounds Laborer FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Job Summary: The Grounds Laborer is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the landscape and outdoor areas. This role includes a variety of tasks to ensure that the grounds are aesthetically pleasing, safe, and functional. The ideal candidate is hard-working, detail-oriented, and enjoys working outdoors in various weather conditions. Key Responsibilities:
- Landscaping and Maintenance:
- Mow lawns, trim edges, and prune trees and shrubs.
- Plant flowers, shrubs, trees, and grass as needed.
- Weed, mulch, fertilize, and water landscaped areas.
- Remove debris, litter, and fallen leaves from grounds.
- Maintain flower beds, pathways, and other outdoor areas.
- Groundskeeping Duties:
- Perform routine maintenance on groundskeeping equipment and tools.
- Assist in the installation and repair of irrigation systems.
- Shovel snow and apply salt during the winter months.
- Set up and take down seasonal decorations and outdoor furniture.
- Ensure all outdoor areas comply with safety regulations.
- General Duties:
- Report any damages or needed repairs to the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor.
- Assist with special projects and events as needed.
- Follow company policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or a related field is an asset.
- Ability to operate groundskeeping equipment (e.g., lawn mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers).
- Basic knowledge of horticulture and plant care.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform strenuous tasks in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of work.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY This position has no supervisory. WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work is primarily performed outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Work may be performed in a variety of settings, including parks, public buildings, and other government-owned properties.
- Work may be performed during normal business hours, as well as on weekends and holidays, as needed.
