MISSION:The mission of BAC is to provide persons with disabilities with innovative services and opportunities to achieve personal success.JOB SUMMARY: Perform Grounds Maintenance and Custodial duties at a Department of Transportation Rest Area facility efficiently and effectively.EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:The list of essential functions below is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this job. Other duties may be assigned based on business needs.
- Perform specified grounds maintenance support according to specified contract methods.
- Perform grounds maintenance tasks to include:
- Mow, edge, trim assigned sections of lawn
- Blow and dispose of all lawn debris in a proper manner.
- Keep Lawn areas green and healthy year-round.
- Ensure proper fertilization of grounds at scheduled intervals.
- Maintain appearance of bushes shrubs and vegetation.
- Maintain and use supplies and equipment under established procedures.
- Perform custodial work according to the specified contracted methods of cleaning.
- Cleaning responsibilities include:
- Removal/disposal of trash
- Cleaning of offices including dusting, vacuuming, and/or sweeping
- Cleaning of restrooms including mopping, disinfecting, cleaning mirrors, partitions, toilets, and sinks
- Stock paper and soap supplies
- Properly dispose any hazardous waste material.
- Pick up litter from outside foyer and grass areas.
- Maintain supplies and equipment under established procedures.
- Perform other specified custodial tasks as requested.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience working with ground maintenance equipment.
- Must be able to pass a background screening for access to the work areas.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience operating a zero-turn lawn mower.

- If required to drive, a current driver's license and clean driving record are required. May be required to drive personal vehicle during work hours. Not all individuals will have to drive for this position.
TRAVEL:No travel is expected for this position.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Requirements will vary depending on the assigned tasks. This position does require the following: repetitive lifting, push/pull, carrying, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling and prolonged standing. Will involve lifting/moving up to 40 pounds. These requirements can be met with or without reasonable accommodation.SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work alone, with no supervision on select shifts.
- Working conditions are outdoors at the work sites (e.g., ground maintenance work). Custodial work may be inside or outside.
- Will need to use any personal protective (safety) equipment as designated properly and consistently.
- Involves exposure to hazardous materials (i.e., cleaning solutions and bio-waste hazards).
- Required training provided by the company.
