Job DetailsJob LocationBridgewater College - Bridgewater, VADescriptionGROUNDS TECHNICIANDESCRIPTION:Bridgewater College seeks a full-time Grounds Technician beginning immediately. The Grounds Technician is responsible for maintaining campus grounds, including mowing, edging, watering, weeding, and fertilizing. Other duties will include moving furniture and removing snow.The position will generally work 38 hours per week, Monday through Friday with occasional overtime and weekends.RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain campus turf areas to include mowing, edging, watering, weeding, and fertilizing.
- Performs patching or resodding of dead areas, reseeding, dethatching, and aerating soil.
- Maintains shrubs and trees including trimming and shaping branches, watering, mulching, and weeding, and complete removal of shrubs and trees.
- Prepares soil and plants new shrubs and trees.
- Removes dead leaves and other debris.
- Maintains flowerbeds and other landscaped areas.
- Performs mulching, weeding, watering, removal of dead materials, preparation of beds, and planting of new flowers and other decorative plants.
- Removes trash from facility buildings to designated areas, police grounds, parking lots, driveways, sidewalks, and building entrance areas.
- Assists in the removal of snow and ice and the dispensing of ice-melt chemicals.
- Operates and performs maintenance of lawnmowers, weed eaters, edgers, shop trucks, tractors, and related equipment.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with good driving record required
- Prior lawn and athletic field experience preferred.
- Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.
