The City of Kettering Ohio is recruiting to fill Groundskeeper/Groundskeeper Specialist positions in the Parks Division which is part of the City of Kettering's Parks Recreation and Cultural Arts Department. These positions assist in the daily operation and maintenance of the parks and other City facilities. These positions perform routine tasks with Parks Service under the general supervision of a Parks Manager and other assigned staff. These positions assist in parks maintenance operation including push mowing weeding litter clean-up athletic field maintenance tree trimming/removal and landscape maintenance painting restroom maintenance minor equipment maintenance; operates one or more of the following: push mower riding mower pick-up truck with/without trailer dump truck paint striper tractor line trimmer hand sprayer and other small equipment; reports for work on time and ready for work at assigned scheduled hours; performs assigned jobs in a safe efficient responsible manner. The Parks Division operation includes a diversity of tasks and responsibilities. The aforementioned duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the total operation but are not inclusive. These positions may perform tasks with limited supervision as required. Requirements: Some previous experience helpful but not required; groundskeeping experience a plus. Must show initiative logical thought process interest in work and ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Able to perform all types of outdoor physical labor in all types of weather. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with co-workers possess a positive attitude and reflect a positive image of the City of Kettering at all times. Must possess a valid Ohio Driver's License and have a good driving record. Must be 18 years old before starting work. Follows current dress code and other work rules. Compensation: The pay range for a Groundskeeper/Groundskeeper Specialist position is $12.60/hr to $14.55/hr. Entry rate is contingent upon the candidate's related skills knowledge abilities and prior experience. If hired seasonally the position works 40 hours per week Monday through Friday for no more than 6 consecutive months.
