Our main focus is providing our members and their guests with outstanding facilities and the highest standard of service.Job SummaryGroundskeepers work under the supervision of the superintendent, assistant superintendent and/or the second assistant superintendent, performing routine manual labor and a variety of physically strenuous tasks for four to six hours straight. Routine tasks may include sod laying, walk mowing, trimming, planting, watering, weed eating, fertilizing, digging, raking, and semi-skilled maintenance work. This job does not require an advanced education, however, in order to be successful incumbents must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision; must be able to tolerate a significant amount of heavy moving and/or lifting; and must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and special events. Standard hours of operation are 6:00 am to 2:00 pm, seven days a week; however hours may vary due to special circumstances or events.Essential Duties
- Mows greens, tees, steep banks, bunker faces and small turf areas using a walk mower; trims, weeds and edges landscape beds; rakes and maintains bunkers.
- Prunes and trims trees, shrubs, and hedges using shears, pruners, chain saws, boom lift buckets.
- Operates golf course vehicles, gas and/or electric motor-powered landscape equipment such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, blowers, chain saws, clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws.
- Operates hand tools such as rakes, pruning saws, and hedge trimmers.
- Cares for established turf by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing and removing thatch, trimming and edging around flower beds, walks, and walls.
- Follows prescribed procedures and uses personal protective gear to ensure a safe work environment.
- Assists with project work; assists in the construction of new greens, tees, and fairways; grades and prepares soil base; lays sod; seeds tees, greens, and fairways.
- Cleans equipment daily; provides basic preventative maintenance on equipment; refills fuel and oil daily; reports equipment problems or failures to supervisor immediately.
- Gathers and removes litter.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
RequirementsPhysical Demands
- Tolerance to lifting and moving objects (average weight 50 lbs respectively).
- Repetitive motion and activities (walking, standing, kneeling, bending, crouching).
- Tolerance to working outside in Florida temperatures and exposure to all weather conditions; cold in the winter and extreme heat in the summer.
- Performs physically strenuous tasks throughout shift, such as weed-eating, walk-mowing, and digging.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum age requirement is 18 years of age. Federal and Florida child labor laws prohibit workers under the age of 18 from operating power-driven hoisting equipment (including forklifts), power-driven circular saws, band saws, and guillotine shears; and driving a motor vehicle and being an outside helper on a motor vehicle.
- High school diploma or equivalent, and at least one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must possess a valid driver's license to operate golf course vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years of experience as a golf course landscaper or maintenance groundskeeper.
