Duties & Responsibilities
* Removes litter and garbage from landscape areas; removes debris from stairs, walks and bike paths.
* Plants shrubs, trees, ground covers, and flowers.
* Installs sod and landscape materials such as boulders, decomposed granite, rock and mulch.
* Prepares, plants and maintains annual flower beds.
* Trims, prunes, and shears trees, shrubs and ground covers; rakes and removes debris.
* Performs minor irrigation activities such as unplugging sprinkler heads and watering trees, shrubs, ground covers, flowers, and lawns.
* Operates power tools and vehicles used in the landscape industry, such as blowers, mowers, power shears, chain saws, edgers, weed eaters, and rototiller.
* Drives standard pickups and utility vehicles.
* Performs minor maintenance on power equipment and vehicles.
Minimum Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience.
* Valid Driver's License upon employment, and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Fleet Safety Policy Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working for University, School District or City/State Agencies or Parks.
* State Certified pesticide license.
* Commercial Drivers License.
* One year of groundskeeping experience.
