The Groundskeeper position earns competitive pay of $ 12.99/hr. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A GROUNDSKEEPER
As a Groundskeeper, you spend your day caring for and maintaining the appearance of grounds and gardens. Your work typically is to inspect athletic fields, equipment, and any public facilities on a daily basis as needed. Your job is essential to the city, and you often participate in training and job safety programs to include proper use and maintenance of all hand and power tools, mobile equipment, procedures and first aid. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include performing equipment maintenance, repair, and cleaning daily; replace damaged parts; ensure fluids in all equipment pieces are maintained at appropriate levels. When you are not out in the city, you generally participate in applying fertilizers and herbicides, seasonally; repair irrigation system, when needed; maintain and use water pumps; water grounds manually with a hose or garden sprinkler. You also ensure to provide assistance alongside volunteers and public to maintain assigned areas and assist with special projects. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The city needs someone like you with skills in maintaining the appearance of grounds and gardens and you finding genuine enjoyment in what you do!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A GROUNDSKEEPER
* High school diploma, GED or equivalency
* Educational Substitute: Related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* No experience required
* Must have a current valid class C driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
