Job DescriptionThe Salvation Army Midland Division Camp Mihaska is looking for a Ground Keeper Maintenance. This individualis responsible for maintain the entire outdoors of the campgrounds owned by The Salvation Army Hidden Falls Camp and to maintain the camp buildings, promoting to all renters and staff members orderly facilities. This position is expected to advance and support the Mission of The Salvation Army.This is a part-time, 24 hours per week, $18.001466 Hwy NBourbon, MO 65441Essential FunctionsGrounds Keeper
  • Complete all work orders in a timely manner.
  • Assist with snow removal from all sidewalks, roads, etc.
  • Mowing and weed eating of entire campgrounds on a weekly basis during the appropriate season.
  • Prune trees, cut down dead or dying trees; cut down trees that pose a danger to persons and/or property; split wood; maintain all wood piles; create and maintain trails; maintain tent camping and campfire areas, etc.
  • Sweep or blow off sidewalks, porches, decks, etc.
  • Paint and/or stain exterior buildings and/or structures as needed.
  • Set-up and prepare campfires as requested by groups or as directed by supervisors.
  • Plant and nurture trees, shrubbery, plants, crops, and flowers as directed by Property manager/supervisor.
  • Mend/Repair/Fix broken or weathering exterior equipment and/or facilities.
  • Assist the Property Manager and other maintenance staff with routine maintenance on all camp facilities.
  • Assist in keeping order to the garage and maintenance areas.
Maintenance
  • Perform emergency repairs whenever possible before calling in outside services.
  • Set up rooms and equipment as directed. This may involve relocating office items, including furniture and file cabinets or furniture in cabins and other buildings.
  • Assist with maintenance records and conduct periodic checks on vehicles.
  • Drive trucks/other TSA vehicles in connection with deliveries and pick-ups as directed. Help with loading and unloading as assigned.
  • Assist with set up and moving of supplies and equipment at various TSA events and locations as assigned.
  • Assist with preparing and implementing preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Follow all safety rules.
  • Report to management/department head on building security and safety.
  • Maintain positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with clients, co-workers, and supervisors. This includes, but is not limited to, such actions as: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors, and clients; respect of other's property and person; and professional and appropriate communication to and about clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Provide leadership to sports activities as scheduled.
  • Other duties as appropriate and assigned for this position.
Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Position requires a background check to be completed. Findings may disqualify an individual for this position. Experience in guest services (cleaning, hospitality, customer relations, ect.). Valid Driver's License with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army's insurance carrier. Certified by the end of the first year in High Ropes, Lifeguard and Train the Trainer Lifeguard Course, NASP, Rifle Range, and Pool Operator's Certification. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to work well with others. Good organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and follow through on assignments. Ability to think independently and exercise sound judgment. Computer skills appropriate for the job. Exhibit enthusiastic, friendly, and outgoing personality. Must be available to work holidays as required. Ability to clean with a variety of chemicals. Flexibility in daily work schedule with the possibility of working some weekends. Motivated self-starter and able to work on your own without supervision.Physical and Working ConditionsGood speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity. Lifting, pulling, and pushing of materials up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Requires bending, squatting, walking, and may stand for extended periods. Position may require local and occasional travel for supplies and training. This job is performed in both outdoor and office environments at various temperatures. The noise level in this work environment is usually low to loud. For some duties of this job, such as special events and outdoor activities, the employee will be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment at these events is usually moderate to loud.
