Clean Harbors is looking for a full time Groundwater Sampling Technician for their facility in Baton Rouge, LA. Job responsibilities include the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the extensive groundwater monitoring and corrective action systems at the Baton Rouge Facility, and groundwater monitoring systems at the closed Plaquemine and Crowley Facilities. Responsible for grounds maintenance around monitoring and corrective action wells at Baton Rouge Facility. Inspects, monitors, and samples closed landfill leak detection systems at the Baton Rouge Facility. Assists with O&M of the landfill leachate collection systems. Performs regulatory compliance inspections of groundwater monitoring systems at Baton Rouge. Collects stormwater samples for LPDES/NPDES monitoring at Plaquemine and Crowley facilities. Performs regulatory required compliance inspections at these two facilities. May assist with O&M of the Plaquemine groundwater corrective action system and with the site and grounds maintenance at the closed Crowley and Plaquemine Facilities as necessary. Primary work location will be the Baton Rouge facility with travel to other facilities an average of once or twice per month.

Responsibilities
* Sample and maintain groundwater monitoring systems.
* Label and properly store samples collected.
* Maintain field notes of sampling information collected that accurately reflects findings.
* Enter sampling information into databases.
* Follow safety procedures and environmental protocols.
* Maintain and calibrate field equipment and instruments.
* Communicate with coworkers, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
* Weekly inspection of groundwater monitoring, groundwater recovery, and landfill leak detection systems.
* Grounds maintenance around wells and access roads.
Qualifications
* Experience in groundwater sampling and testing preferred.
* Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to travel to different locations and work in varying site conditions.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Attention to detail and accuracy.
Physical Requirements
* This position is physically demanding, and candidates must be able to navigate varying site conditions where steep slopes and rugged terrain may be present. Some strenuous manual labor, including moving pumps and other small equipment is required. Candidates must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted and wear personal protective equipment, including a respirator, that may restrict movement, when required.
* Requires walking and standing for extended periods of time, sitting in equipment that may vibrate or jostle, pulling/pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, crawling, stooping, crouching, and balance. Requires speaking, listening, understanding, and writing English; color determination, depth perception, clarity of vision, and 20/20 eyesight (corrected or uncorrected).
* Maintains a clean and organized work environment, and a clean personal appearance. Facial hair must always comply with the company's respiratory protection facial hair policy.
