DescriptionThe Group Exercise Instructor will enthusiastically lead group exercise classes safely and securely and within the guidelines of the Hagerstown Field House. This part-time position reports directly to the Fitness Director.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Lead group exercise class while adhering to safety guidelines and regulations
- Maintain all necessary certifications needed to maintain employment and teach classes
- Begin and end class on time
- Prepare/coordinate appropriate exercises for scheduled class
- Ensure equipment is put away and studio is ready for next class
- Report incidents, inquiries, complaints to the Fitness Director
- Secure a substitute for class when unable to work. Inform supervisor of substitute and confirm with substitute
- Track attendance
- Must be physically able to perform workout
- Must be able to prepare/choreograph exercises that are appropriate for designated class
- CPR/AED certified
- Knowledge of and respect for Hagerstown Field House Mission
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations of HFH, including its Personnel Handbook, and abide by them
- Work in a team environment
- Communicate effectively with others, verbally and in writing
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed, required, or assigned by the Fitness Director and/or the General Manager
RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.). Upon hire and training, the individual must be able to successfully utilize the Hagerstown Field House Member/Guest registration software and Timeclock software.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: To perform this job, an individual should possess the following National Certification for applicable course format(s) being taught.
- CPR/AED Certification within 60 days of hire
