GROUP EXERCISE INSTRUCTORJOB DESCRIPTIONInstructors needed! TRX, Cycle, Pilates, Kettlebell, Bootcamp, Kickboxing, Kids Classes, Barre, Yoga and Zumba! POSITION SUMMARY:Instructs group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.WAGE RANGE: $20 - $30/hr based on experience/certifications heldESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
  • Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
  • Keeps accurate class attendance records.
  • Responsible for walking around and making adjustments and correcting form during class.
  • Assist in maintaining equipment and informing Director of any breakage or items needing replacement
  • Report to work 5 minutes prior to class to prepare for class and ensure proper set up and tear down of class.
  • Responsible for covering their class. Any substitutes should be called into their Director/coordinator.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.

  • Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED.
  • Certification in areas of expertise.
  • At least one year of experience teaching Group Ex classes preferred.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to conduct classes and activities.
  • Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
