Program : SBCS' Youth Development Academy (YDA) is a partnership with San Diego County Probation Department to provide evidence informed, pro-social, and developmentally appropriate programming to youth in custody at East Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility. This program serves youth ages 14- to 24-years old who have been committed to long-term sentences for serious felony offenses. The Youth Development Academy uses a trauma-informed, positive youth development model to support the youth and families we serve while in custody, and as they transition back to the community. RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the YDA Program Coordinator & Program Director, the YDA Group Facilitator is responsible for providing group services to youth in the YDA at East Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility. The YDA Group Facilitator will be responsible for facilitating evidence or promising based groups to YDA youth. Services will be in keeping with agency goals, objectives, mission, and style and provided within a team framework. Associates are responsible for working with the team in developing team goals and objectives and in meeting those goals and objectives, including but not limited to: DUTIES : Facilitation of daily, evidence-based groups for youth sentenced to YDA at East Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility. Completes training, certification, and successful implementation of various CBT-based group curricula. Available to work non-traditional work hours, including evenings up to 8pm and Saturdays to support staff coverage. Maintains case records and client files in the Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) database as required by SBCS and its funding sources. Provides biweekly progress reports for all classes and group sessions completed to support youth successfully completing commitment programs. Participates in Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings with other team members. Appropriate coordination of contacts with Probation and other public and private organizations and individuals, as necessary to effectively serve clients. (e.g., progress reports to referral sources, client referrals to other agencies). Monthly statistical reports of services provided as required by SBCS. Conducts outreach to target population in order to effectively reach those in need of services. Participates in special projects and activities as related to agency's goals and objectives. Participates in agency special events, such as fundraisers, annual meetings, and open houses. Crisis intervention services, and referrals to telephone and walk in persons. Work within a locked juvenile detention facility. Participates and assists in implementing program components. Attend all agency required meetings and trainings. Other duties as assigned.
