Group Fitness InstructorThe Beede Swim & Fitness Center in Concord, MA is seeking part-time, energetic, certified Fitness Instructors who will be responsible for planning, instructing, and leading a variety of group exercise classes for youth and adults, dependent upon certifications and specializations. Group fitness classes are offered year-round at one of our indoor or outdoor locations including Town parks and the Town beach. Instructors who are looking to run engaging, unique classes are highly encouraged to apply!This is an hourly, part-time position, consisting of up to 20 hours/week, pay rate starts at $46.00/hr. Classes run 7 days a week, year-round, at various times of day and at various locations, based on the instructors availability and interests.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:External and internal applicants, as well as position incumbents who are or become disabled as defined under the Americans With Disabilities Act, must be able to perform the essential job functions (as listed) either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined by management on a case-by-case basis.* Maintains positive relationships with participants to educate, motivate, and promote a health way of life by delivering quality, group fitness programs.* Develops a variety of challenging and entertaining group fitness classes. Prepares appropriate choreography, equipment, music, and handouts as needed.* Teaches scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time; provides adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching, and cool down.* Instructs patrons on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates exercises; identifies different muscle groups and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles. Adapts curriculum based on participant needs.* Keeps management informed of customer and facility needs.* Ensures that safety standards are met and Department and facility policies are followed.* Performs other related duties as required, directed or as the situation dictates.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:None.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:* Must be at least 18 years of age.* Prior experience in Group Fitness, Personal Training, health promotion, or wellness, required.* Must have a current group fitness certification (such as ACE, AFAA, NASM, ACSM and/or certification specific to the format you teach is required).* Must have current First Aid/CPR/AED certification or be willing to obtain before starting.WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:External and internal applicants, as well as position incumbents who are or become disabled as defined under the Americans With Disabilities Act, must be able to perform the physical demands (as listed) either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined by management on a case-by-case basis.Moderate physical effort is generally required which involves frequent lifting of between 30 and 60 pounds. Regularly required to stand, walk, crouch, stoop, reach, crawl, climb, talk, sit and hear for extended periods. Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, and feel objects or equipment. Noise is moderate to loud at times.
