This person will be detail-oriented, driven by challenge, and successful in a fast-paced working environment. This position requires a flexible, motivated, and self-actualized individual that demonstrates leadership. This person will have the opportunity to take ownership of their area and cross-train with other teammates to become a more well-rounded Grower for themselves and Soli Organic. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the quality of the crops to be grown under best practices.
- Responsible for all operational requirements in the assigned greenhouse. This includes irrigation, fertilization, growing environment monitoring, sanitation efforts, etc.
- Maintains irrigation logs on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis as needed.
- Responsible for the daily review of crop quality.
- Responsible for minor maintenance repairs or for notifying maintenance of any concerns.
- Supervise and report regularly on a designated area of the grow facility.
- Provide support and training to Assistant Growers and Grow Technicians in designated areas.
- Monitor and report the environmental conditions of greenhouses.
- Scout daily for insects and disease pressure in crops.
- Responsible for following all food safety requirements for production in this area or on this equipment including any logs or SOP's.
- Responsible for pesticide applications, biological control agent applications, and corresponding records as needed.
- Assists with plant inventory analysis as needed by the Grow Team.
- Trains, assigns tasks and monitors the work of any employee assigned to the crop production process.
- Reports on any departmental discrepancies, problems, and any observed safety concerns.
- Reports every week to apprise management of crop progress.
- Responsible for operating the machinery or equipment in a professional, safe manner, as determined by occupational safety rules or manufacturer's instructions.
- Covers weekend duties as required by the monthly schedule.
- Other duties as needed or assigned.
Requirements RequirementsREQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture, foreign equivalent or related field required
- 4 years of growing experience in greenhouse and irrigation systems.
- Working knowledge of quality systems, food safety programs, GMPs, food defense, and HACCP
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bi-lingual English & Spanish preferred
- Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
