This is a professional planning position directing the County's Planning & Community Development Department which is responsible for all phases of planning and zoning and community development activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Manages site plan review, project analysis, implementation of comprehensive plan and land development regulations, land use certification concurrency management, data collection and analysis.

Prepares and presents planning and zoning issues to the Board of County Commissioners and the Planning Commission.

Prepares department annual budget.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Familiarity with the Florida Growth Management Act and associated implementing statutes and rules.

Familiarity with land planning theories and practices and database management, word processing and spreadsheet development and analysis.

Must be familiar with geographic information software and concepts.

Ability to prepare studies and investigate properties and physical conditions.

Ability to prepare and make presentations before Planning Commission, County Commission and various local and civic organizations.

Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public and co-workers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires a Master's degree in planning and three years of responsible planning work, preferably in a governmental setting. Three years of experience must be in a supervisory capacity; or a Bachelor's degree and five years of planning experience. Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners is desired. Must possess a valid State of Florida Driver's License with a favorable driving record.
