This is a professional planning position directing the County's Planning & Community Development Department which is responsible for all phases of planning and zoning and community development activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Manages site plan review, project analysis, implementation of comprehensive plan and land development regulations, land use certification concurrency management, data collection and analysis.
  • Prepares and presents planning and zoning issues to the Board of County Commissioners and the Planning Commission.
  • Prepares department annual budget.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Familiarity with the Florida Growth Management Act and associated implementing statutes and rules.
  • Familiarity with land planning theories and practices and database management, word processing and spreadsheet development and analysis.
  • Must be familiar with geographic information software and concepts.
  • Ability to prepare studies and investigate properties and physical conditions.
  • Ability to prepare and make presentations before Planning Commission, County Commission and various local and civic organizations.
  • Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public and co-workers.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Requires a Master's degree in planning and three years of responsible planning work, preferably in a governmental setting. Three years of experience must be in a supervisory capacity; or a Bachelor's degree and five years of planning experience. Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners is desired. Must possess a valid State of Florida Driver's License with a favorable driving record.
