SANY's Utica Academy of Science is excited to announce the opening of a Guidance Counselor (K-5) for the 2023-2024 Academic Year.We are looking for a dynamic and creative School Guidance Counselor and/or social worker. We have a great environment for new staff members and encourage experienced staff to apply! New York State Certification preferred.We need School Guidance Counselor and Social Worker who will:
- Be skilled at working with K-5 school grades who may have emotional, family or scholastic difficulties.
- Have good communication skills enabling them to communicate effectively with school staff, families and community members.
- Ability to problem-solving is critical for this position, as school counselors must resolve personal disputes on a daily basis.
- Collaborate with staff to determine charter requirement for the instructional goals, objectives and methods
- Have excellent content knowledge and pedagogy
- Welcome the use of analytics and data to help drive instruction and promote learning
- Appreciate regular feedback, accountability and the rewards that come with doing a great job serving our students & communities

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Counseling required; Master's degree preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work required; Master's degree preferred
- NYS School Counseling Certification
- NYS School Social Work Certification
- Experience with a diverse population of students or in an urban setting
- Prior experience preferred
- Fingerprint clearance through NYS Department of Education
