  • Strong typing skills required
  • One (1) year computer experience required
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable Responsible To: Principal and Guidance Counselor Job Goal: To assist guidance counselors with their duties and provide services that facilitate the functioning of the Guidance Department. Performance Responsibilities:
  • Greet walk-in students, parents, social workers, and other visitors and arrange for them to see the appropriate counselor
  • Arrange appointments with counselors for students, teachers, parents, college representatives, military recruiters and other visitors
  • Assist counselors in maintaining cumulative record files by assuring that student cumulative folders are located in appropriate grade file, graduation file, or inactive file
  • Assist counselors by filing standardized test (PSAT, SAT, ACT, Exit Exam HSAP) score reports and labels
  • Assist counselors in fulfilling requests for transcript information from other faculty members, students and parents, colleges, other secondary schools, and district office
  • Assist counselors with college application process by maintaining supply of college applications, accepting and logging in applications from students, preparing transcripts, collecting letters of recommendation, mailing applications, and sending requested mid-year grade reports to college admissions offices
  • Assist counselors by managing requests for assignments for students who miss school due to illness or suspension and with homebound instruction logistics
  • Assist in preparation of and mailing of various other types of correspondence
  • Assist counselors by managing registration and collection and deposit of monies for various Guidance Department projects, such as PSAT
  • Assist counselors with logistics of various Guidance Department projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned
