Salary: $15.88 - $23.03 HourlyLocation : Grapevine, TXJob Type: Part-Time - 19 hours or less per weekJob Number: CVB2402-5Department: Convention and Visitors BureauOpening Date: 02/04/2024Closing Date: 11/24/2024 11:59 PM CentralJob SummaryPerforms a variety of activities as a part time attendant on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad's Excursion Train and depots. May be required to perform these duties while wearing period appropriate railroad related character attire, ie: 19th Century Conductor, Hobo, Brakeman, Marshall, etc. and perform skits on board for passenger entertainment. Essential Functions1. Ensures a memorable train experience to all passengers by delivering the highest level of customer service which will include pre-board and on-board entertainment.2. Shares the history of the Cotton Belt Railroad in Grapevine and gives detailed history of the Grapevine Vintage Railroad, Locomotives and Victorian coaches. 3. Shares the history of Grapevine along with information about festivals and events, shopping areas, restaurants and attractions.4. Ensures onboard passengers' comfort and safety at all times.5. Assists in passenger car preparation for the scheduled run, which includes stocking concessions and merchandise on board. Visually checking the train interior for mechanical and structural damage and reporting such to the Supervisor.6. Assists in passenger boarding and de-boarding, monitors passenger safety while train is running. Maintains order and precautions to prevent damage to train and train equipment.7. Sells tickets, concessions and merchandise at the Grapevine Depot and at the Stockyards ticket office. Assists in inventory control and reconciliation of all monies collected. May assist with food prep and setup for all train operations. Cleans and maintains concession equipment and ticket offices.8. Cleans passenger cars including concessions and restrooms, in between runs, and at end of shift. Assists with securing the train.9. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.10. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.11. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.When assigned to North Pole Neighborhood:1. Ensures a memorable experience to all guests by delivering the highest level of customer service.2. Shares the history of Grapevine along with information about annual festivals and events, shopping areas, restaurants and attractions.3. Assists in preparation for scheduled train excursions, which includes stocking concessions and merchandise.4. Sells tickets, concessions and merchandise.5. May be required to dress as Christmas characters and participate in on board and pre-boarding entertainment. Required SkillsSKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES •Ability to work well with people.•Must have good oral communication skills and be able to demonstrate excellent customer service including speaking, performing and interaction with passengers.•Ability to work flexible schedules as needed for weekends, evenings, holidays, special events and programs.•Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, count money and make change correctly.•Ability to use iPad, Square selling software, and ticketing system, credit card machine and perform basic math functions.•Must be able to lift 20 lbs. and work inside and outside in all kinds of weather as required.•Must have good communication and interpersonal skills, tact, patience and courtesy.•Must enjoy working with the public in hospitality atmosphere.•Must have reliable transportation.•Must be able to work for long hours and stand for extended periods of time.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Minimum age 17.Must have or be able to obtain a food handler's certification within 30 days of hire date or promotion and maintain during employment.Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check and credit check.Must pass a pre-employment basic physical, drug screen, and functional assessment screening (Level 1), Ishihara vision screening, whisper test and audio screening.WORKING CONDITIONS While performing the essential functions of this position, there will be routine and frequent exposure to:•Bright/dim light•Dusts and pollen•Extreme heat and/or cold•Wet or humid conditions•Extreme noise levels•Animals/wildlife•Vibration•Fumes and/or noxious odors•Traffic•Moving machinery•Other extreme hazards not listed aboveSafety equipment such as gloves, goggles, hard hats, safety vests, steel-toe boots, back support belts, and seat belts are provided and must be worn as required by department procedures and good safety practices.PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
