Position Overview

The General Manager is responsible for effectively managing all facets of their gym, including, but not limited to hiring, training, development of team members, sales, quality, and overall gym operations. This includes delivering excellent customer service to our members while role-modeling the organization's values and culture.

Gym Management Responsibilities

• Understand the competitive landscape and community around the gym.
• Understand budgeting, inventory, payroll, labor management, and facilities maintenance.
• Manage and maintain gym operational budget, P/L, and cost accounting.
• Ensure facility is clean and operationally sound, assisting in organizing weights and inspecting equipment.
• Ensure compliance through the gym, auditing for safety, maintenance, and repairs.
• Promote and engage in the gym as an ambassador.
• Respond to social media inquiries.
• Manage, monitor, train, and evaluate the performance of all gym-related staff.
• Oversee team member payroll to ensure accuracy and timely submission.

Member Experience Responsibilities

• Deliver an exceptional member experience and actively participate and engage with all members.
• Lead by example.
• Provide effective decision-making regarding customer service issues.
• Manage member feedback and respond to inquiries.
• Ensure the gym is clean, functional, and organized.

Team Member Experience Responsibilities

• Hire, train, onboard, and schedule all gym-level staff.
• Train and develop team members regarding all standard operating processes.
• Manage and evaluate the performance of all gym team members.
• Oversee team member bi-weekly payroll for accuracy and timely submission.

Operational Duties:

• Provide and maintain the highest level of customer service in a high-volume environment.
• Plan and promote the gym on a regular basis and during special events.
• Ensure the facility is clean and operationally sound.
• Manage pro shop and juice bar inventory and sales.
• Coordinate vendors for deliveries, repairs, and cleaning.
• Coordinate with outside vendors for gym management software/IT, A/V, etc.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of management experience, preferably in the fitness or hospitality industry.
• Bachelor's degree in business or related field is desirable.
• Minimum 3 years in personal training or management of personal trainers.
• Strong customer service orientation with proven results.
• Experience managing performance metrics including P&L, revenue, budgeting, inventory, payroll, and facilities maintenance.
• Proficiency managing third-party vendors and internal support teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Open, participative leadership style and drive for excellence.
• Strong work ethic, integrity, and professional demeanor.
• Current CPR / First Aid Certification.
• Ability to direct sales through outreach programs.
• Must be able to build relationships and genuine connections.
