State-of-the-art equipment, a sense of community and tons of fun are guaranteed!Position OverviewThe General Manager is responsible for effectively managing all facets of their gym, including, but not limited to hiring, training, development of team members, sales, quality and overall gym operations. Including delivering excellent customer service to our members while role-modeling the organization's values and culture.Gym Management Responsibilities
- Have business acumen that includes an understanding of the competitive landscape and community around the gym (e.g. Stay aware of all job postings for your gym, and ensure interviews are performed on a consistent basis to prevent any open positions in operations or fitness)
- Understanding of budgeting, inventory, payroll, labor management and facilities maintenance.
- Manage and maintain gym operational budget, P/L and cost accounting.
- Ensure facility is clean and operationally sound & assist in organizing weights and inspecting equipment to ensure it is in working order
- Ensure compliance through the gym, auditing the gym for safety, maintenance and repairs.
- Be an ambassador of your gym by promoting and engaging in the gym. Outsourced to 3rd party of all social media, website and digital marketing.
- Respond to social media inquiries
- Manage, monitor, train and evaluate the performance of all gym-related staff.
- Oversees team member payroll to ensure accuracy and submitted on time to payroll processing.
Member Experience Responsibilities
- Deliver and exceptional member experience and actively participate and engage with all members. Get to know your people!
- Lead by example
- Provide effective decision-making regarding customer service issues to provide a positive member experience
- Manages member feedback of gym and respond to inquiries whether its google reviews, social media posts, guest surveys or in person feedback.
- Ensure the gym is clean, functional and always organized.
Team Member Experience Responsibilities
- Be a leader! Hire, train, onboard and schedule all gym-level staff
- Train and develop front desk team members and/or frontline team members regarding all standard operating processes involving member acquisition and onboarding
- Manage and evaluate the performance of all gym team members
- Oversees team member bi-weekly payroll to ensure all missed punches are corrected and submitted on time with payroll signed off by indicated deadline
Operational Duties:
- Provide and maintain the highest level of customer service in a high-volume environment through personal actions and development of the staff.
- Plan and promote the gym on a regular basis and during special events as scheduled, using marketing designated by corporate or local gym ownership.
- Ensure the facility is clean and operationally sound and assist in organizing weights, keeping equipment organized and inspecting equipment regularly to ensure all equipment is sound and operational. Notify maintenance staff or ownership immediately upon finding any equipment in need of repair.
- Responsible for pro shop and juice bar inventory, ordering, and assigning restoking duties to staff as necessary. Manage retail and juice bar sales and promotions.
- Responsible for scheduling and coordination of vendors in facility for deliveries, repairs, cleaning.
- Responsible for coordination with outside vendors for gym management software/IT, A/V, etc as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of management experience, preferably in the fitness industry
- Bachelors degree in business or related field
- Experience understanding and managing of performance metrics including P&L, revenue, budgeting, inventory, payroll, cost controls and facilities maintenance
- Strong customer service orientation with proven results
- Proficiency managing third-party vendors and internal support teams to ensure proper operations and maintenance of gym facilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Open, participative leadership style and drive for excellence
- Strong work ethic, integrity, and professional demeanor
- Current CPR / First Aid Certification
- Promotionally-oriented and have the ability to direct sales through company required outreach programs
- Must be able to build relationships, genuine connections and trust, both internally and externally.
