Momentum is seeking enthusiastic and outgoing applicants for the Gym Operations position at our Silver Street, Houston location. We expect to have new hires begin in early January. This forward facing position includes the majority of tasks required to run the gym on a day-to-day basis. Gym Staff provide a diverse range of services to our customers including, but not limited to, sales, membership maintenance, risk mitigation, instruction, and creating a healthy environment for customers and fellow staff!Building positive relationships and a strong gym community is an important component of this position. Previous customer experience is required while climbing experience is preferred but not mandatory. You must be able to work nights and weekends. Product Knowledge, Advocacy, and Sales
- To help climbers challenge themselves and engage with our gym:
- Be knowledgeable about all the services Momentum offers and help customers find the service that best suits them
- Aid customers in all things membership related: Sign-up, Freezes, Cancellations
- Verify that all climbers have purchased access to the facility.
- Operate our gym management software and conduct point of sale transactions
- Keep up to date on gym events and seasonal offerings and recommend to customers when appropriate.
Managing Risk
- Monitor the gym and mitigate unsafe situations before they become a problem
- Ensure customers are following Gym Rules
- Verify every visitor unescorted by Momentum Staff has a current waiver on file
- Educate customers who are using unsafe methods of climbing
- Take corrective action when needed to maintain safety standards
Requirements HOURS & AVAILABILITY
- Part time positions available
- Must be available to work weekends, including Sunday
- Must be available to work evening shifts
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Must show a strong enthusiasm for climbing
- Experience in the disciplines of bouldering, climbing, and traditional climbing preferred.
- Experience in customer service and/or instruction required
- Basic phone and computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Drive products
- Current First Aid & CPR preferred, but not required for non-shift lead positions.
ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Able to work in a loud, high energy environment on a regular basis
- Comfortable speaking in front of and providing instruction to large groups
- Comfortable working at height and moving up and down a climbing wall
- Continuously stand and walk on unstable and uneven surfaces for long periods of time
- Able to repeatedly lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs of weight on a regular basis
- Able to balance, kneel, pull, push, and grasp objects as needed
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- $15/hour starting
