The Hand Therapist will effectively treat and rehabilitate the patient through post operative rehabilitation, preventive care, non operative/conservative treatment or industry consultation. The therapist works closely with the physician and patient to provide a continuum of care. The therapist directs patient participation in activities and exercise programs to restore, reinforce and enhance performance. members. We provide several programs including a new graduate mentoring program, an APTA accredited residency program, and Sports Performance. Other benefits include CEU reimbursement, Medbridge membership, medical/dental insurance with HSA options and 401k.Primary Functions and AccountabilitiesPerforms detailed evaluations with patients to learn about their physical condition and symptomsDiagnoses movement dysfunction and other deficits in order to develop a treatment planCommunicates effectively with patients regarding expectations of treatment and achievement of patient goalsUtilizes knowledge of patient's diagnosis, signs, and symptoms and results of diagnosticstudies to determine the patient's level of functionInterprets and organizes evaluation and assessment dataSets priorities and establishes realistic short term and long term goals and outcomesMaintains patient records and documents goals and progress in a timely mannerInstructs patients in how to properly perform therapeutic exercise techniquesGuides patients appropriately through post surgical protocolsMake customized splints for patient as orderedCoordinates patient care with Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants, Physical Therapist Assistants, and/or therapy techniciansSchedules patients effectively for productive time utilizationDocuments and maintains a plan of care for each patient that include specific therapy orders incoordination with the medical plan of careCommunicates effectively with the physician teamsCommunicates effectively and in a timely manner with front office, call center and billing staff when requestedKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to provide instructions clearly with close attention to detailMust be able to collaborate with other patient care team membersDemonstrate compassion and encouragement to patients experiencing pain and frustrationMaintain a positive and motivating outlook with patientsAble to remain flexible, adaptable and calm in unexpected situationsAble to exercise sound judgment in stressful situationsAbility to make a variety of custom splints and educate patients in proper use and carePosition RequirementsBS, MS, or Doctorate in Physical or Occupational Therapy from an accredited schoolCurrent Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy LicenseCertified Hand Therapist designation or drive to become a CHTOrthopedic practice experience in Hand Therapy preferredCurrent CPR certification#THERAPYOV
